The release of Night Creatures in September 2010 was a pivotal one for MidPoint & I…the album garnered more accolades than we ever could have imagined: from individual songs being culled for other compilations to being voted one of the top ten albums of the year by Uncommon Radio to Prodigy (of Mobb Deep) rapping over “Taxi Cab” w/ Cash Bilz, a collaboration which will see the light of day very soon on Cash Bilz’s debut album. MidPoint & I thought it was only right to re-release the project for retail purposes, but not without giving you guys extra goodies to make the purchase worth your while. For only $5, you will not only receive the Night Creatures LP, but also a full color, 14-page digital booklet with artwork for each song as well as a 32-minute bonus disc with work from MidPoint & Lyle Horowitz from other available projects and unreleased material.

Please support great art and continue to allow us to make our music available for free by purchasing Night Creatures today. MidPoint & I are currently two tracks deep into the Night Creatures 2 recording process, stay tuned for more information regarding that album in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support. (CLICK HERE: http://nightcreatures.bandcamp.com TO PURCHASE)

Auteur, the french word for “author”, is a theory in film criticism which holds that a director’s films reflect the director’s personal creative vision. In spite of – and sometimes even because of – the films in question being made as part of an industrial process, the author’s creative voice is distinctive enough to shine through all kinds of studio interference. As a filmmaker, this is my goal. As a musician, I hope to do the same. This project features guest shots from Elucid, PreZZure, Gooch, P. Hall, Shameless Plug, SLik D, H2 and more… Click on the album cover to download.

After long delays, here is The Naked City EP, up for free download for a limited time only. Here are five unique, moody, ambient R&B pieces — very personal and meant to be experienced as a whole. Perfect make-out-on-the-couch music to get you through the remainder of the Winter. Thank you to everyone who pushed me to experiment. Click the artwork above to download.

Here goes the third and final entry in the Twilight Zone-themed Who Are We? instrumental series. This time around, I decided to focus on one episode/narrative instead of a bunch of episodes like previous installments. Time Enough At Last is one of the most iconic (and pessimistic) episodes in show’s history, and I thought it would be fun to take on the challenge of balancing the episodes humor and despair via music.
I’ve been working on this project since I dropped the last volume back in October, but watching The Twilight Zone on New Years Day, as I do by tradition every year, lit the fire up under me to finish. For our final trip to the 5th Dimension, I present: Who Are We? (Part Three: Time Enough At Last). Click on the album artwork to download.

Dropping off my new EP, Spider’s Web Castle, which features appearances from PreZZure & Gooch, as well as six instrumentals. The download, as always, is free, but there is an optional donation which you can bypass by just typing in 0.00 into the price field. Spider’s Web Castle is a celebration of the dark, perverse thoughts that plague us in the winter time. Theme music to a ritual sacrifice. Click the artwork above to download.

The follow-up to my first instrumental tribute to The Twilight Zone, which turns 51 today. The majority of the samples come from some of my favorite episodes, as do the song titles. This may not be our last visit, either…

As Night Creatures nears it’s completion, I’m very excited to unleash “Bellevue Dick” featuring Elucid, the official first single off of the album, dropping August 30th. We’ve also included a special non-album b-side, “Indian Summer”. Next week, I’ll be flying to California to finish the album w/ MidPoint. The creation of the album began when he visited New York back in January, it’s crazy having spent so long on a project, but the proof is in the pudding. When he came out here, we made “Taxi”, which may be my favorite record on the album thus far. It’s only right that I head out West — while working over the internet is fine, there’s nothing like actually vibing in the studio with the other artist. Hoping that we can strike some last-minute gold while I’m there. We still have to finish “Bedtime / At Midnight I Take Your Soul”, the epic, nightmarish,  eight-minute album closer which you got a sneak peak of in our recently released teaser trailer. I’ve already said too much. I got a habit of getting in trouble with the management. Just remember the date: September 1st, 2010.Also happy to report that we are only a couple of shoot days away from wrapping I Love You, Mag and ready to announce that it will be released in September 2010 December 2010. Stay tuned for screening information. I’m proud of this film. Expect to laugh. Expect to think. Most importantly, expect to be able to follow it, as we’ve finally decided to create a linear plot line and dialogue in our universe. Self loathing or self realization? How about: still learning and not afraid to admit it. For those who have been asking: The Third Room has officially been cancelled. We’re still writing and developing new concepts for upcoming projects. In addition to my own projects, I continue to act as a consultant — handling public relations, web presence and executive producer duties for other artists. I got involved with Brooklyn-based hip-hop band The Union earlier this year, who you may remember from our Prince-sampling mash-up video for “The Life”. We recently wrapped their debut album, which is scheduled to be released soon. I appear on the album twice: spitting a verse (!!!) and co-producing a remix of “We Own The Sky”, which is now completely sample-free. Keep your eyes peeled for more Union-related video content from us very soon.
Until next time…
